Returned IT Specialist Faces Treason Charges In Ongoing Trial

He faces up to 15 years in prison.

On December 18, the trial of Aliaksei Navahrodzki began in the Hrodna regional court. The man is charged with treason against the state. The details of the case are unknown. Under this article, Navahrodzki faces up to 15 years in prison. Nasha Niva collected information about Navahrodzki.

Aliaksei is 38 years old, he was born in the village of Papernya, Lida region. At birth his surname was Chakovy, later he changed it to Navahrodzki. He studied at Minsk Radio Engineering College, and then at BSUIR.

According to the CyberPartisan database, Aliaksei served as a priest in 2005. In 2007, he began working at Belpharmacia; in 2008, he was a system administrator and director at the Philosophy ODO, which is engaged in bookbinding and finishing activities. Around this time, he changed his last name to Navahrodzki. Since 2011, Aliaksei has not officially worked in Belarus.

In 2015, Aliaksei lived in Poland, and in 2019 and 2021 he wrote that he lived in Germany, working on artificial intelligence at EDEKA GmbH/WITRON. Navahrodzki’s main messengers were tied to a German phone number, and his email was on a German domain.

Navahrodzki has published several science fiction stories (“Holding Hands with the Antichrist” in 2020, “Ilya and His Team against the Aliens” in 2021, and “Holding Hands with an Angel” in 2022). He also participated in the conference “Philosophy and Modern Challenges” organized by the National Academy of Sciences in 2021. There he gave a presentation on “Consciousness and Artificial Intelligence.”

It is unknown when Navahrodzki was detained. The last time he was on his VKontakte page was December 29, 2022.
