Entire Family Detained In Homel For 'Treason Against State'

The father works as a simple builder, the mother as a hospital nurse.

A whole family has been detained by law enforcers in Homel. The mother, father and their two children are in the Homel pre-trial detention centre № 3, reported human rights activists.

They are the spouses Vasil Prokharau (construction worker) and Larysa Prokharava (nurse at the hospital № 3), as well as their children Nastassia (nurse at the regional hospital) and Pavel (construction worker).

The family is charged with Article 356 of the Criminal Code (treason against the state) of Belarus. It is not reported on the grounds of such a serious charge.

Each of them faces 7 to 15 years in prison.
