During the period from December 15 to December 29, 2023, 1,175 Russian invaders died in battles against the Ukrainian Defense Forces, and these are only those whose names could be established through the open data analysis.

There were five Russian officers on this list: one colonel and four lieutenant colonels.

In general, Russian journalists note, 2023 has become bloodier for the Russian army than the previous one.

“In the last roundup for 2022, our list had just over 10,000 names. Now we can say that at least 15.5 thousand people died in 2022 — that is, in 2023 we learned about another five thousand who had died earlier. At the end of 2023, there are more than 40.5 thousand names on our list, and we expect that the data for 2023 will also increase by at least a third,” the article says.

By December 15, the death of almost 3,000 officers of the Russian army and other security forces was confirmed. 341 of them are in the rank of lieutenant colonel and above.
