Russian Authorities Confirm Death Of Major General In Ukraine War
VLADIMIR ZAVADSKY

He was blown up on a mine.

Governor of Russia's Voronezh region Aleksandr Gusev confirmed that Major General Vladimir Zavadsky, 45, deputy commander of the 14th Army Corps from Murmansk region, died in the war in Ukraine.

"A heavy loss. A piercing pain. Deputy commander of the 14th Army Corps of the Northern Fleet, Major-General Vladimir Zavadsky, died at a combat post in the special operation zone," Gusev wrote. He added: "Vladimir chose the vocation of defender of the Fatherland from a young age and was faithful to it until the end."

Zavadsky's death was reported last week by several sources: by graduates of the Moscow Combined Arms Command School from which the major-general graduated, anonymous VChK-OGPU telegram channel, the Belarusian publication of Gusar News, and the Novorossiya publication linked to the pro-Russian Tsargrad channel.

Gusev did not specify the details of the serviceman's death. Sources wrote that he exploded on a mine on the afternoon of November 28. Information about the place of death varies. According to the VChK-OGPU Zavadsky was "in the rear area", "Novorossiya" wrote that the general died "near Izyum, Kharkiv region". Other sources named the village of Krynki in Kherson region, the BBC reported.
