A political prisoner, ex-special forces officer, will be tried again in Belarus. He was detained a day before his departure abroad. During the detention Yan Papkovich was severely beaten, as well as his dog was wounded with a shot.

Yan is an ex-special forces officer, former collector of Belgazprombank, who resigned and was going to move to Poland with his wife and brother Ales in September 2022. But the day before he was detained by the Alfa group. During the detention he was severely beaten, his dog was also wounded by a shot, reminds "Viasna".

He was sentenced to four years in a colony. Yan was found guilty under Art. 342 of the Criminal Code (active participation in group actions, grossly violating public order) and part 1 of Art. 13 and part 1 of Art. 361 - 3 of the Criminal Code (preparation for participation in an armed formation on the territory of a foreign state).

Now it became known that on the initiative of the administration of Mahiliou colony No. 15 a criminal case was opened against him under part 1 of article 411 of the Criminal Code (malicious disobedience to the lawful demands of the colony administration). The trial against Yan will start in Mahiliou on December 14. The case will be considered by Judge Tatsiana Mikhailava.
