It Becomes Known Why Zelensky Suddenly Cancelled Speech In US Senate

The decision was made "at the last minute".

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky did not speak before the US Senate because not only Ukrainian issues were discussed there.

This was reported by the Ambassador of Ukraine to the United States Oksana Markarova on the air of the TV marathon.

"Nothing catastrophic actually happened. There was an idea to take part in one of several briefings, if it was possible to join," she emphasised.

Markarova noted that Zelensky has already appeared before the US Congress and holds regular briefings.

According to her, a large number of private briefings were held on December 5, where Pentagon chief Lloyd Austin and other White House representatives spoke.

"It is precisely because they discussed not only Ukraine, but also domestic issues, so we did not take such a part today," Mrs Ambassador said.

She noted that the Ukrainian delegation has already held a number of meetings and will continue to work in Congress.

On December 5, it was reported that Zelensky would address US senators in the format of a closed briefing via a secure video conference.

He was scheduled to brief the Senate on the state of the war in Ukraine and the need for further military aid the day before the scheduled vote, on December 6, on a more than $61 billion support package for Kyiv.

However, Zelensky cancelled the online speech in the US House of Representatives due to a "last-minute" issue.

On December 4, US President Joe Biden's administration sent an urgent warning to Congress to approve tens of billions of dollars in military and economic aid to Ukraine. Otherwise, the USA will stop supplying weapons, which will "bring Ukraine to its knees" on the battlefield.
