Two Belarusian Border Guards Drown In Dnepr On Ukrainian Border

The ice thickness couldn't take the weight of two armed men in full gear.

Two border guards have drowned in Bragin district, on the border with Ukraine. A lieutenant was trying to save a contract serviceman. This is reported by the press service of the State Border Committee.

In the morning of February 15, a border guard unit consisting of a lieutenant, a sergeant of contract service and a conscript was patrolling the area in the flooded Dnieper floodplain at the Kamaryn border outpost.

The sergeant fell through the ice while walking around a large flood plain. The lieutenant tried to save him, and sent the conscript far away from the danger, to the shore.

The thickness of the ice could not support the weight of two armed men in full gear.

Both border guards went underwater and drowned.
