SIPRI: Belarus Increased Its Weapons Procurement By 55% Over Last Five Years

Almost 100% of weapons are supplied from Russia.
The authoritative Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI) claims arms imports to Belarus increased by 55% in 2018-2022 compared to the previous five years. The report on the state of the global arms market was published on March 13th, OL writes.
Almost 100% of weapons come from Russia, while Belarus imported only 0.1% from China.
Belarus' share in global arms imports increased from 0.3% to 0.6% in 2018-2022.
In 2018-2022 compared to 2013-2017, arms exports from our country decreased by 37%. SIPRI calls Serbia (33%), Vietnam (25%) and Uganda (14%) the main customers of Belarusian arms production.
The share of Belarus in world exports of arms decreased from 0.5% to 0.3% for five years.
On a global scale, the United States remains the leader in arms exports (40%), which is increasing its lead over its competitors. Russia, France, China and Germany are also in the top five.
India, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Australia and China are among the top five importers of arms.
SIPRI report says since 2022, Russia has almost no weapons exports. Ukraine has dramatically increased imports in 2022, although until the end of 2021 almost did not buy weapons.
