The enemy in the town is being destroyed in large numbers.
The Russian occupiers are trying to seize Bakhmut in the Donetsk region by advancing from several directions and encircle it, but fighting continues and the Ukrainian Armed Forces are also successful in the dynamic situation in this direction. Ukrainian Deputy Defence Minister Anna Malyar said this during a national TV marathon broadcast by the Rada channel on March 14.
"As of today, enemy offensives are taking place virtually throughout the entire area of responsibility of the Khortytsya operational and strategic grouping. Fighting continues near Kreminna [Luhansk Region], Bilohorivka [Luhansk Region], Sporne [Donetsk Region], Bakhmut is the epicentre," the deputy minister said.
She specified that Russian invaders are trying to surround and seize Bakhmut in several directions at once.
"Actually, what is the dynamics of hostilities? It is when there are certain minor successes of the enemy, but also there are certain significant successes in the AFU, which were able to do something in the north," Malyar said.
She added that the fighting for the town is not yet over, so it is premature to draw any conclusions yet, and stressed, commenting on the successes of the Ukrainian defenders, that "I am not sure it can be voiced now".
The deputy head of the Ukrainian Defence Ministry reminded us that the information about the battles for Bakhmut must be interpreted with the understanding that the Ukrainian defenders are doing everything possible to prevent the enemy's plans from being implemented. Therefore, when there is talk about the strategic importance of Bakhmut, it is very important to trust the Ukrainian military, she pointed out.
Malyar also described Bakhmut as a town where the enemy is destroyed in large numbers, and consequently the offensive capabilities of Russian troops are reduced.
