CNN: US Delete Software From Drone That Fell Into Black Sea

To prevent classified information from getting to the Russian Federation.

The US has remotely managed to delete classified software on the MQ-9 Reaper drone that collided with Russian fighter jets and crashed into the Black Sea. This was reported by CNN on March 15, citing two US officials.

The action to clean up the software was taken after the drone collided with two Russian Su-27 fighter jets to avoid sensitive information reaching the Russian Federation.

According to a US Navy spokesman, the country has no naval ships in the Black Sea, which would have made any attempt to get the wreckage of the UAV extremely difficult and time-consuming.

Russian Security Council Secretary and former Federal Security Service head Nikolay Patrushev said on March 15 that Russia would try to obtain the drone wreckage, CNN noted.
