Russian troops have revised their goals in the Donetsk region of Ukraine.
The Russian occupiers are most likely preparing to go defensive. Before that, they want to try to align the borders of the captured part of the Donetsk region.
Victor Andrusiv, a military, former adviser to the head of the Office of the President and to the Minister of Internal Affairs, expressed this opinion in an interview with TSN. He notes that the occupiers may plan to go defensive because they no longer see the prospects for their offensive.
According to Victor Andrusiv, the front has likely crumbled.
“They [the enemies – Ed.] want to try to align the borders of the Donetsk region. I tend to think that the Russians are getting ready for the defence. I consider it to be the turning point. They already see the meaninglessness and futility of their large-scale offensive campaigns,” he said.
According to him, the occupiers do not abandon attempts to capture Bakhmut precisely because they somehow justify the huge losses of Putin's army.
Colonel Andrusiv also drew attention to the fact that this week the Russian invaders declared Melitopol the so-called “capital” of the occupied Zaporizhzhia region. According to the soldier, this may indicate that the invaders have already in fact publicly abandoned their intentions to seize Zaporizhzhia.
