Konstantin Borovoi: Power Slips Through Putin's Fingers
KONSTANTIN BOROVOI

Panic is clearly visible in the Kremlin.

The Russian leadership is in a state of panic amid the failures of the war in Ukraine. Konstantin Borovoi, a Russian opposition politician and deputy of the State Duma of the Russian Federation from 1996-2000, told this in an interview with Glavred.

"Panic exists. It relates to the fact that power is slipping through Putin's and his entourage's fingers. It is clear that military action against Ukraine, before that the Chechen war, the Georgian war, the Syrian war - these are tools to consolidate power. When Ukraine opposes barbaric aggression, it strikes a blow to the stability of this power. And it would be strange if they did not panic about it," Borovoi said.

At the same time, the Russian businessman expressed doubt that the lower classes would follow the panic of the upper classes. At the same time, Borovoi says it will be extremely difficult for Putin's regime to survive in the near future.

"When this regime falls is the main question that all the experts are asking. It may fall tomorrow. One wrong move and everything falls apart. Now, it is 2023, Putin came to power in 2000. Twenty-three years is more than Stalin's regime. Given the fact that Putin is no longer young, it may end tomorrow just with the death of the dictator, or some careless action involving the use of unconventional weapons. This is what Putin himself is always talking about," Borovoi says.

And he adds that there are no longer economic grounds for the existence of the Russian empire either.

"Unfortunately for Putin, the billions of dollars he still receives from Europeans and Americans for oil and gas have become difficult to spend on weapons. Much of it is spent on propaganda, because it has turned out to be a more effective tool than traditional conventional weapons," Borovoi said.
