The opposition has won.

The Georgian Dream ruling political party together with the People's Power civic movement decided to withdraw the draft law after mass protests on the streets of Tbilisi, according to the Georgian Dream.

“We see that the adopted draft law has produced divisions in society.

We should pay the utmost attention to peace, tranquillity and economic development in our country, as well as to Georgia's progress on European integration. Therefore, it is necessary to spend the energy of each of our fellow citizens not on confrontation, but on the consistent development of the country.

Considering everything, we, as the authority responsible to each member of society, have decided to withdraw the draft law we supported without any reservations unconditionally," the Georgian Dream said.
