Russian elites are preparing to seize power.
Because of the deplorable state of the Russian army on the battlefield, political elites in Russia are already thinking about a future without Putin. They plan to blame him for the impending defeat and to seize power.
Russian elites realised after the liberation of Kherson by the Ukrainian defenders that they would lose the war. They began to develop scenarios for removing Vladimir Putin from power. Political analyst Taras Zagorodny told Channel 24.
Putin will be the one to blame
One of the main factors in the political war in Russia is be the defeat in the war with Ukraine. Various political forces and representatives of the so-called elites will be looking for the one to blame for the defeat.
"Putin comes first here. He is the commander-in-chief, and everyone else has "nothing to do with it". This factor will play in the internal political struggle," Taras Zagorodny said.
Invaders' retreat from Kherson oblast opened active discussions on the matter in Russia. Then, Russian elites themselves became convinced that the war had already been lost. After the defeat, they would find words to play in their hands.
"They do learn history and know that all authoritarian regimes collapse after foreign policy defeats. When the ultimate strength of the system is reached and there is someone to throw that ballast on," the political analyst said.
In particular, Russian producer Iosif Prigozhin and millionaire Farhad Akhmedov call Vladimir Putin a loser and say he has already lost the war.
"The Russian elites and the people do not forgive such things. They don't care what the leader does, but if he is a loser, they just get rid of him," Zagorodny stressed.
"An unfortunate suicide"
Obviously, the more Putin's power weakens, the better it will be for Ukraine. That's what Russian elites can "help" with.
"It is better for him to have an 'unfortunate suicide' that will be so obvious that no one will even do an autopsy," the political scientist stressed.
As long as Vladimir Putin remains in power, the war will continue. He won't retreat, as he did in Syria. Zagorodny says only Putin will be the engine of this war.
