A publicist on Russia's collapse and public sentiments.
- I see no chance for Russia to make it through," Alexander Nevzorov said in an interview with Irina Shikhman. - I can't say how long the disintegration, the collapse, the split, the partition and the liquidation, and the annulment of this state, will take, otherwise, that would be speculation. It is clear it will be multistage, tragic and incredibly painful process for all those living there.
...Moreover, Russia, if it is defeated in this war, loses its role in this world. It has nothing else to do.
All its life it has acted only as an aggressor, invader, bloodsucker, cannibal, killing, destroying, conquering, annexing, occupying neighbouring territories and countries - everything it could get its hands on.
...And we see that it can do nothing else. It has a rather modest contribution to civilization. Because if we count up we get over 400 English and American Nobel Prize winners (not including literature, peace and economics, I mean physics, chemistry and medicine) and Russia has 13 Nobel prizes. And what's more, half of these 13 are US citizens, living there and simply having some relation by birth and nationality (to Russia).
As for the current public sentiments in Russia, Nevzorov notes that he has seen people who voted to preserve the Soviet Union in 1991.
- These people are phenomenal, they are able to change their orientation within two or three hours.
No sooner has Putin's body cooled down than half the population will be in line for shopping trips to agencies (open borders!), half will hunt down his henchmen and boss of thieves.
We cannot get any real picture of the public sentiments today. It is not the sociological services that lie, unfortunately, but those surveyed. They lie out of fear, caution, and indifference.
It is clear that this marasmus cannot be general. Obviously, people like that "Pelmen", who died during the shooting in the St. Petersburg bar (his nickname in prison - "Pelmen") are a special category of people who appeared in special conditions. There cannot be many of them.
Conditions are required for such a person to develop. Such conditions are not always provided by fate and not for everyone. So I guess this is an inert, quite submissive, criminal society, because of this inertia and submissiveness gave Putin the opportunity to commit all his crimes.
They are now living in St. Petersburg and Moscow, doing their best to convince themselves and those around them that nothing is happening. They're trying to live an ordinary life, having their affairs, putting on exhibitions and presentations. They still boast in front of each other of their smuggled Vuitton handbags and hold at-home concerts and some kind of show.
Nevzorov recalled a married couple in Hitler's Berlin who wrote postcards saying "Don't fall for mobilisation! Hitler is a criminal!"
- They managed to make 4,000 postcards before they were caught by the Gestapo. They went around and put them in boxes, bakeries. It was the priority for them. If now they are afraid of being tracked in social networks, there are many other forms of resistance," the publicist says.
Answering the question of what the best possible outcome of this war for Russia is, Nevzorov says that all outcomes are now, unfortunately, tragic and stalemate-prone.
- The best one is a quick and painless liquidation as a state. Russia has no chance of further historical existence. If that fool hadn't started the war, it might have survived another couple of decades.
Perhaps, it would have parted peacefully, bloodlessly and merged with some European movements and geopolitical currents, but he (Putin), having penetrated into the collider control apparatus, started pushing buttons like a monkey, the purpose of which he did not understand, and accelerated all these destructive processes.
