AFU Capture First Mercenary From PMC 'Gazprom'

He told a lot of interesting things.

Evidence has emerged that the Ukrainian military has captured the first mercenary of the so-called "volunteer battalion" Potok, with which Russia is trying to plug its holes at the front because of the shortage of cadres, writes New Voice.

This unit was formed from Gazprom employees, mostly ordinary elderly watchmen, and was part of the PMC Redut, controlled by the Russian defence ministry.

A video of a wounded misfit from Orenburg Region who was captured while the Ukrainian armed forces were mopping up Russian invader positions near Bakhmut was made public on social media.

According to the occupant, before being sent to Ukraine, he worked for Gazprom as a "senior security guard".

"Gazprom created a division called Potok. Potok was handed over to PMC Redut," the captive explained during interrogation.

However, he added that, in addition to "Potok", "Gazprom" created two more units - "Fakel" and "Plamya", which were transferred directly to the Russian Ministry of Defence.

As for the circumstances of his surrender, the Russian noted that his fellow servicemen abandoned him during the evacuation.

"I was at the position. Mortar fire started. I was wounded. Asked for evacuation. They bandaged me... At seven o'clock in the evening they started the evacuation. Two men were carrying me. While they were carrying me, they left me on a field... They left, but they never came back for me... For four days I was crawling alone in forest, looking for a way out. And then I came to you," he told the Ukrainian defenders.
