Babaryka Is In Surgery At Navapolatsk Hospital

The political prisoner may have been severely beaten.

Navapolatsk Central City Hospital confirmed the hospitalization of Viktar Babaryka, Radio Svaboda reports.

"Babaryka is in surgery department," medical staff noted.

"Friends. There were rumours yesterday that Viktar Babaryka was in hospital in Navapolatsk. We managed to confirm this information. Unfortunately, other details are still unknown," the statement reads.

On 26 April, it was reported that the political prisoner and former presidential candidate was taken to hospital with multiple bodily injuries. Babaryka, as sources said, was so severely beaten that doctors did not even recognise him at once until they saw his last name.
