Xi Jinping Plays Dirty Trick On Kremlin

Beijing has proven unworthy of Moscow's trust once again.

The legendary story that lasted several weeks did not end as Russian leaders wanted. This is a story about whether a telephone conversation between Xi Jinping and Volodymyr Zelensky will take place or not.

Propagandists took the Chinese leader’s long pause of oriental style as a negative decision regarding the conversation with President Zelensky. And the province started writing!

“If Xi really calls Zelensky, it will be recognition of him not as a puppet, but as the leader of Ukraine. This would be a strong defeat for China on the world stage. A manifestation of his weakness,” wrote Sergei Markov, a member of the Council for Foreign and Defense Policy of the Russian Federation.

“Xi Jinping is no friend to Zelensky: China refuses to talk with the US puppet,” Rubaltic published an article under this heading. Moreover, this article declared "the actual absence of diplomatic relations between Kyiv and Beijing".

"The Americans mocked Zelensky who wanted to talk with Xi Jinping," according to RIA Novosti. The Russian state agency dedicated a separate note to "Newsweek readers" being confident that the Chinese leader will not waste time on this.

“Sorry Zelensky, Xi Jinping talks to world leaders, not puppets,” wrote one reader.

It is clear that everyone has the same manual for propagandists. But is no one really able to teach them at least how to use online synonym dictionaries?..

“Xi Jinping noted that the relations between China and Ukrainian relations have gone through 31 years of development and reached the level of strategic partnership, which contributed to the corresponding development and rise of the two countries. I appreciate President Zelensky's repeated statements about the importance of developing relations between China and Ukraine and cooperation with China. Thus, the puppet thesis returned to his repeaters like a boomerang. Xi Jinping has demonstrated that he considers Volodymyr Zelensky the rightful leader of Ukraine.

This is not the first time that China has deceived the hopes of Russian ideologists. I immediately recall how last summer they managed to celebrate China's victory over the United States ahead of time, and then mourn Beijing's defeat in the confrontation with Washington.

Moscow greeted this dirty trick by "Friend Xi" with gloomy silence. “This is China’s recognition of Zelensky’s legitimacy as the president of Ukraine and not a puppet of the United States. This is a diplomatic failure of Russia. And the victory of the United States... China positioned itself by this conversation not as even a moderate ally of Russia, but as a neutral country,” even Sergei Markov had to admit.

Thus, in his conversation with the Ukrainian president, the PRC Chairman actually brought down one of the fundamental theses of the Kremlin propaganda: "Only the West is against us, and the rest of the world is for us.” But, as it turned out, even China is not a friend of Russia.
