Lukashists Deprive Regional Independent Website Of Its Domain

It covers events in Zhodzina and Barysau.

The Operative Analytical Center (OAC) has deprived the domain name of the independent publication ex-press.bu, which covered the events in Zhodzina and Barysau. The owner of the domain name received a corresponding e-mail signed by the OAC deputy head Siarhei Zhernasek, reports the Belarusian Association of Journalists.

The letter says that the owner of ex-press.bu domain was sent a letter on March 20 with a demand to provide the documents, confirming the reliability of the information in the centralized database of domain names. The documents had to be brought in person within 7 working days.

"As the addressee did not respond to the notification within the specified period, with reference to paragraph 48 of the internal instructions Siarhei Zhernasek states: failure by the domain owner to provide the supporting documents at the request of the registrar is a violation of the domain name registration procedure," reports BAJ.

On this basis, the national administrator decided to suspend the delegation of the domain name "ex-press.by". The registrar, represented by Belarusian Cloud Technologies Ltd., was instructed to inform the domain owner of the violation.

BAJ stresses that the deprivation of the domain name took place without recourse to the court.

Ex-press.by is an independent website that covers news in Barysau and Zhodzina. The website's output has been declared "extremist materials" by the authorities.
