Border guards are predicting a weekend collapse.
Queues at the border with the EU may grow before the holidays, predict the State Border Committee. Queues of trucks to enter the European Union have already increased by 20%.
The agency notes that traditionally, during the pre-holidays, as well as Catholic and Orthodox Easter, the queue of vehicles at checkpoints on the border with the EU countries increases.
"Given the current situation on the border with the EU and the slow processing of transport by the neighboring control services, the number of trucks and cars entering Poland, Lithuania and Latvia may increase," said the SBC.
The State Border Committee noted that already by this weekend the queue of trucks to enter the EU increased by 20%.
More than 1,000 trucks are waiting to enter the EU in front of the Polish checkpoint "Kazlovichy-Kukuryki," where temporary restrictions are in force - drivers with permits for unscheduled entry enter the checkpoint on a first-come, first-served basis.
As for passenger cars, the largest number of cars (as of 11.00 - 140 cars. - Ed.) is recorded in front of the only checkpoint where cars are allowed to enter Poland - "Brest - Terespol".
