Dzmitry Hopta was detained on February 5, 2021, he was 21 years old then. He was accused of participating in protests in Zhlobin on August 9-10, 2020 under Art. 342 of the Criminal Code (Organization and preparation of actions that grossly violate public order, or active participation in them) and Art. 364 of the Criminal Code (Violence or threat of violence against a police officer).

The guy fully admitted his guilt in court following the advice of the state's attorney. He said that he threw one stone at the police officers and ran away. Judge Iryna Pradun sentenced the defendant to two years in prison despite his mental problems, as the experts came to the conclusion that the guy was able to realize his actions even having behavioural problems.

Human rights activists recognized Dzmitry Hopta as a political prisoner.
