The Lukashists called the MLRS and drones ‘over advertised’.
Belarusian air defence troops are ready to fight against the HIMARS multiple launch rocket systems and various types of unmanned aerial vehicles. Colonel Dzmitry Panin, Chief of Staff of Air Defense Missile Troops of the Air Force and Air Defence of the Belarusian army, said this in an interview with VoenTV, the MoD’s TV channel.
“We have full information [on the use of the HIMARS in Ukraine]. I want to say that HIMARS may be over advertised. This is a common ballistic target, which has its own characteristics. The built-in training equipment [of the Belarusian Air Defence Forces] missile systems allows us to work out the actions of calculations for this type of target.
Also, we’ve repeatedly targeted the HIMARS imitations at the [Russian] Ashuluk training ground. Let’s say, there is nothing new for us in this case,” said the Chief of Staff.
Speaking about countering UAVs, the colonel noted that there is nothing impossible for the Belarusian troops.
“When entering the hitting area [UAVs] will be obviously destroyed. They have a large effective scattering surface and rather low speeds. They are simple air targets for us,” said Panin.
“If we are talking about tactical unmanned aerial vehicles, then, again, [to counter them] medium-range anti-aircraft missile systems are used, this is the S-300, the Buk, quite effective. The Tor-M2 anti-aircraft missile system is effective against the smaller tactical unmanned missile carriers," the Chief of Staff added.
The colonel noted that the anti-aircraft missile forces of Belarus are actively analyzing the experience of conducting the so-called special operation on the territory of Ukraine. “Changes were quickly made to the training courses for anti-aircraft missile forces, where all the features of actions were taken into account. For more than a year we have been on combat duty in an enhanced staff,” he said.
