Bakhmut’s ‘Cauldron’: AFU Block 10,000 Strong Russian Force Grouping

The Ukrainian army took up the highest positions near the city.

The Armed Forces of Ukraine took up the highest positions near Bakhmut. The city resembles an amphitheatre because it is located on a lowland among hills.

Military expert Roman Svitan, a reserve colonel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and instructor pilot, told 24 Channel about it.

The military expert said that the Armed Forces of Ukraine have the main task - to go through the heights into the depths of the occupied territory, and also to drag the Russians who are in Bakhmut into the ‘cauldron’.

“I already see that one of the right decisions would be to leave Bakhmut and drag the Russians almost under Chasiv Yar so that they go deeper into this ‘cauldron’ and further along the upland blocking this entire 10,000 strong Russian force grouping. Also, half of the troops are the Wagnerites,” said Roman Svitan.

In his opinion, based on the forces and means, we could make such a trap that would resemble a "mousetrap". The military expert noted that Syrskiy was right about this - you need to stuff these rats into a mousetrap, and then lock it up.

Roman Svitan noted that the Russians have only one direction where they can really attack - this is the Luhansk front.

“The strategic task of the enemy in this direction is to go from Valuyki to Kupyansk and further along the Oskil Reservoir to go to Lyman. Valuiyki, Kupiansk, Lyman are one direction,” the military expert explained.

According to him, the second direction is from Kreminna to Lyman and along the Siverskyi Donets. The Russians want to try to push our troops out of this triangle created by the Oskil and Siverskyi Donets rivers. After that, the enemy plans to go on the defensive.
