A smoke cover was created during the exercise.
Russia has carried out exercises to "ensure security" around the Crimean bridge, but in practice the Russian "camouflage" has been largely ineffective in the war against Ukraine.
This was reported by British intelligence on Monday, May 29 on Twitter.
During the exercise, a smoke cover was created around the Crimean bridge, partially hiding the site.
"The smoke cover was produced using TDA-3 smoke generators, probably from Russia's 28th Brigade of Nuclear, Biological and Chemical Defence Forces," the report said.
The British Intelligence Service said Russian doctrine considers the use of smoke to be part of disguise and deception, which has received much attention. In practice, however, Russian "camouflage" has generally proved ineffective in warfare.
"Likely due to a lack of a strong central planning function and poor combat discipline at a low level," it said.
