Insurgents Liquidate Russian Colonel Pechevisty In Syria

He fought in the ranks of the GRU.

On the night of May 25-26 in Syria, after a series of “crushing blows”, the insurgents managed to eliminate 49-year-old colonel of the Russian Armed Forces Oleg Pechevisty. There is no official information from the RF Ministry of Defense in Russian media yet. However, the news began to appear on social networks on May 27. Mostly obituaries on the community pages of the city where the Russian colonel was born.

The first publication was made by journalists of the Svir Coasts resource. They reported that he fought in the ranks of the GRU, helped the landing in Syria, informs Ukraine 365.

His funeral will take place in his native city of Podporozhye, in the Leningrad region.

On the same day, but already in the evening, information about the liquidation of Pechevisty appeared on the page of the administration of the Podporozhye district.

The media reported that the insurgents attacked the headquarters, which was located in Aljab al-Ahmar (Latakia, Syria). Artillery fire was caused by the insurgents who are operating against the government army in the province of Idlib.

This is one of the heavy blows to the Russian army after 2016.

Oleg Viktorovich Pechevisty was born in 1973 in Podporozhye. He graduated from the Higher Command School in Moscow. He took part in the fighting in Chechnya, Georgia and Syria. The man got to Syria only at the end of December 2022.
