Former Belarusian Aerial Surveillance Head Is On Trial For 'Treason'

The hearings are in the city of Vitebsk.

The Vitebsk Regional Court is holding a closed trial of Valery Ramanouski, Mediazona noted after considering the schedule of court sessions.

He is accused of treason against the state (Article 356 of the Criminal Code of Belarus).

In December 2022, the Belarus 1 TV channel released a movie about KGB counterintelligence, which told about Belarusians and citizens of other countries who are accused of working for foreign intelligence services.

In the movie, Valery Ramanavski was called “the former head of the Aerial Surveillance Service” and noted that he faces up to 15 years in prison, but the article under which he is accused was not announced.
