Russia is close to losing a land corridor to Crimea.
Deputy Minister of Defence of Ukraine Hanna Maliar said that the Armed Forces of Ukraine are advancing in the Zaporizhzhia direction in the Orekhiv region. According to her, the battles for Velyka Novosilka in the Novopavlivsk direction continued.
The area of Velyka Novosilka is the ‘Veremiivka Flange’ between Hulyaipole and Vuhledar. The Russians came there at one time.
Military expert Roman Svitan, a pilot-instructor and colonel of the AFU reserve colonel, spoke about it on 24 Channel.
“This flange is the best place to cut it off. That is, hit the flanks and cut off this flange, liberate the south of Velyka Novosilka and align the front at least along the Hulyaipole-Vuhledar line,” Svitan said.
The direction from the area of Orekhov towards Tokmak to Melitopol, according to the military expert, is one of the main directions for Ukrainian troops. They have been talking about it for at least half a year, and they were ready to attack there even last year. However, then Kupiansk was de-occupied in the Kharkiv region.
The strategic task of the Armed Forces of Ukraine
“Now there is an opportunity to fulfil the same task - to advance towards Tokmak. Further to Melitopol and crossing the land corridor is one of the strategic tasks - the land corridor to the Crimea from Russia,” the pilot-instructor believes.
The shortest distance between Orekhiv and Melitopol is about 85 kilometers. And since this is the shortest distance to enter the land corridor, this is one of the priority areas that the Ukrainian battalions of tactical groups are currently working on.
“Reinforced battalions with the help of a sufficient amount of force and funds allocated so far for this attack,” suggested a colonel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the reserve.
