Yesterday, June 13, Protestant preacher Siarhei Udaliyeu was severely detained by riot police in Mahiliou, human rights activists report.
According to witnesses to the detention, it all happened near the Mahiliou ice palace. According to them, law enforcers jumped out of a "dark car with blacked-out windows," ripped the man out of his car and brutally crushed him to the ground.
Later they took him away, but not to the Kastrychnitsky police station, which is nearby, but in the opposite direction. It was found out that he was not taken to the Leninski district police department either, and the car was "lost" on Pionerskaya Street, where the Mahiliou Regional KGB Department is located.
Human rights activists said that three months ago his contract was not renewed at his workplace because of his insufficient loyalty.
In addition, Siarhei Udaliyeu previously studied at the Kyiv Protestant Seminary, he is known as one of the best theologians in the city. Studying in Ukraine could also allegedly have been the reason for the persecution.
