The plane disappeared from radar near Rostov region of the Russian Federation.

The day after the armed mutiny of the Wagner PMC, the plane of mercenary head Yevgeny Prigozhin flew from Rostov-on-Don to St Petersburg. This was reported by Important Stories, citing data from the FlightRadar24 service.

The private jet, tail number RA-02795, took off from St Petersburg in the morning of June 25. It went off the radar near Rostov region. At about 6 p.m. the aircraft reappeared on radar screens over Tambov region and returned to St. Petersburg within an hour.

The plane RA-02795 has been under US sanctions since 2019 because of its connection to Prigozhin. At the time, Novaya Gazeta wrote that the business jet was used personally by the entrepreneur as well as members of his family.

The M-SAAN aircraft was registered in the Isle of Man. In September 2020, it was re-registered in Russia and the tail number was changed to RA-02795. The serial number, however, remained the same.

Important Stories made sure that in the last month, the plane's route coincided with Prigozhin's public appearances in various Russian cities. For example, on May 31, the Wagner founder met with journalists in Novosibirsk. The day before, he visited Yekaterinburg and Vladivostok. And on June 1, Prigozhin was in Nizhny Novgorod. Business jet RA-02795 flew between May 30 and June 1 from St Petersburg to Yekaterinburg - to the east with the transponder off - Novosibirsk - Nizhny Novgorod.

On June 23, Prigozhin launched a military mutiny in Russia, which lasted a little less than a day. During that time, some of his mercenaries seized Rostov-on-Don, while another part went in convoy to Moscow via the Voronezh and Lipetsk regions. They stopped about 200km from the capital, turned their columns around and marched back to the field camps.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov claimed that the criminal case against Prigozhin would be dropped and he would be allowed to go to Belarus. At the same time, as of June 26, the case against the head of the Wagner PMC was still being investigated.
