Belarusian Arrested For 15 Days Under Denunciation Filed By Border Guard

Alena Vikhotsenka, judge of the Haradok District Court, sentenced Aliaksandr Bal to 15 days of arrest for distributing “extremist” materials on social media, human rights activists report.

The administrative case began with the fact that the operational duty service of the Haradok District Department of Internal Affairs received a message from an employee of the border post in the urban village of Jezeryshcha, who, when examining Bal's phone, found subscriptions to channels included in the list of “extremist”.

The policemen drew up a report with regard to the “offender”. Judge Vikhotsenka agreed with the position of the police officers and concluded that the man had committed an “offence”. She also confiscated his phone as “state revenue”.
