Syrian Citzen Breaks Through Belarusian-Polish Border And Gets Stuck In Swamp

Polish officers and rescuers helped him.

Officers at the border post in Bialowieza, Poland, together with rescuers from Hajnówka, helped a foreigner stuck in the swamps of the nature reserve. The illegal immigrant got to such a difficult place that he could not get out on his own, according to the Polish border guards.

On June 5, Polish border guards received information that a foreigner was in the area of official responsibility of the post in Bialowieza. He needed medical assistance. A patrol was sent. It was difficult to reach a foreigner because the terrain is rugged and swampy there.

A few hours later he was found in the nature reserve, in the swamps. “It turned out that he was a Syrian citizen who, immediately after illegally crossing the Polish-Belarusian border, deliberately went to a hard-to-reach area in order to avoid contact with the services. However, he got stuck and could no longer get out of the swampy area on his own,” the border guards said.

The man was taken to the hospital in Gajnowka. Nothing threatens his life and health now.

This year, officers of the Podlaskie Border Detachment took part in 8 rescue operations, they helped 11 foreigners.
