Large Company Executives Arrested In Mahiliou For Bribes

The bribe was in a candy box.

Police investigators of the Mahiliou Regional Executive Committee from the Department for Combating Economic Crimes detained the deputy head of the department and the leading economist of one of the city's large enterprises in Mahiliou. They were caught red-handed while receiving a bribe, according to the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

According to the police, from October 2022 to July 2022, the company’s officials were in collusion with the executives of a certain commercial organization, repeatedly helped it “resolve issues” with the company, ensured victory in the procurement procedures at exchange auctions for the supply of industrial equipment.

According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the executives received a percentage of the cost of the supplied equipment for their help. The bribes amounted to at least BYR 29,000 in total.

In a video released by the department, police officers take money out of a gift candy box and lay it on the trunk of a Geely car of one of the detainees.
