Palina Sharenda-Panasiuk Refuses To Talk To Doctors And Take Drugs In Navinki Hospital
PALINA SHARENDA-PANASIUK

The ‘examination’ was interrupted.

Political prisoner Palina Sharenda-Panasiuk, an activist of the European Belarus Civil Campaign, actually disrupted the forceful forensic psychiatric ‘examination’ in Navinki. They put her there from the Rechytsa prison camp.

Her husband Andrei Sharenda told Charter97.org about this:

“Palina managed to share her news from the Minsk pre-trial detention centre No 1 on Valadarski Street. We know that during the so-called forensic psychiatric examination in Navinki, Palina completely refused to take any drugs and talk to doctors.

At first, they tried to put mental and physical pressure on her. For some time she was deprived of food. But in the end, they realized that they would not get any results from Palina. So, the examination was interrupted, one might say, before it began.

In fact, 3-4 days were enough for them to understand that nothing could be done with my wife. They launched other procedures after that. Then, they urgently individually transfer Palina from Navinki to the Valadarka [the Minsk pre-trial detention centre No 1 - Ed.].

Literally a day later, last Friday, special transport took her out of the pre-trial detention centre on Valadarski Street in the direction of Homel. Her final destination should be the Rechytsa prison camp No 24, where she had been imprisoned before.

Palina said that such a rush is due to the fact that they are urgently going to judge her under Article 411 [malicious disobedience to the administration of the correctional institution - Ed.]. My wife faces up to two years of new torture.”

Palina, according to her husband, should have been released on August 6, her term of imprisonment is coming to an end.

“In order to formally endure the procedures, they need to try her again within 2-3 weeks on an accelerated procedure.

Therefore, unfortunately, another trial will be held over Palina in the near future. I call on all diplomats who remain in Belarus to visit this trial.

It’s necessary to prevent them from keeping Palina in custody under torture conditions without any reason.”
