This year will be crucial.
The threat to Ukraine will never disappear as long as Belarus is ruled by a self-proclaimed Belarusian dictator. Andrei Sannikov, the leader of the European Belarus Civil Campaign expressed his opinion in an interview with Glavred.
“In general, I’m talking about the need to think about how to get rid of the Lukashenka regime first. It will help to cope with Russia. Because as long as the Belarusian balcony, which Lukashenka gave to the Russian military, will hang over, that is, will be in the hands of the dictator, the threat will not disappear anywhere,” Sannikov said.
He stressed that this threat would not disappear even when the Ukrainian military reached the 1991 borders.
“Even if we assume that today we are ending the war, coming to an agreement, and even if Russia goes completely beyond the 1991 borders, then they will come with an even more prepared raid in a year. So this year should be crucial. And there are more and more signs that this should happen,” Andrei Sannikov said.
The former Belarus presidential candidate added that Lukashenka has little chance of holding power in Belarus for a long time. After all, only repressions are keeping him in power in Belarus.
“Lukashenka unleashed such repressions today that we have not seen in Europe since the Second World War. The repressions are keeping him in power. Squeezed springs always strive to straighten up. He is balancing on the brink now. We have to wait. I think he will not be able to stay in power for so long because too many unexpected things are happening - we saw him completely ill, there was Prigozhin’s rebellion and nuclear weapons," Sannikov said.
