The enemy can leave the Kherson and Zaporizhzhia directions.
Even realizing the pointlessness of retaining control over a certain sector of the front, the Russians cannot afford to lose it because they have fallen into an "information trap" over the situation with Bakhmut.
This was stated by Colonel Roman Svitan, a reserve colonel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, on the air of Channel 24.
The military expert said the following about the significance of the Bakhmut frontline for the Russians:
"It was presented in such a way that the Bakhmut-Soldar ledge, which, in principle, any general would have made it so that they would have left from there long ago and stepped back to Popasna. This is called leveling the front and a controlled retreat, but they cannot do this because the Soledar-Bakhmut ledge is so pumped up that a retreat from this ledge would be perceived by Russian society as a loss of Crimea. For them it is approximately the same. It is called an information trap".
The colonel of the AFU reserve spoke about the plans of the Russian military leadership, which could dramatically change the situation on the Ukrainian fronts: "They will definitely redeploy troops from the Kherson and Zaporizhzhia directions first to reinforce the area around Bakhmut in order to prevent our breakthroughs or the destruction of this ledge. They will rather withdraw from the Kherson and Zaporizhzhia directions, leave the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant, but they will sit in this Bakhmut-Soledar ledge, because the information trap will be much more powerful for them with the loss of Bakhmut and Soledar".
