This date will be a holiday in the national calendar.
July 3 is the so-called Independence Day in Belarus. When should the Belarusians celebrate this day?
The site Charter97.org talked about this with the leader of the Razam solidarity movement, Viachaslau Siuchyk.
- You know that this is not a holiday at all. First of all, there was an illegitimate referendum, when Lukashenka illegally abolished the date of July 27, the real Independence Day, and then appointed July 3. And there is a serious tragedy hidden here, because this is the day when the city of Minsk was liberated from the Nazi invaders in 1944. But few people know that the Germans had left a little earlier the city, which even without them was subjected to air and artillery strikes. Therefore, this date, firstly, is a Minsk one, and secondly, it is the truth about the war, which has never been told even to Minskers themselves.
- What other holidays are needed in the new Belarus?
- The Belarusian people have a lot of good and important dates. When we talk about independence, we should also remember the 25th of March, the Day of Belarusian People's Republic, the Day of Freedom and the day when the charter was adopted in 1918. We have to remember August 25, along with July 27, when independence of Belarus was restored once again.
I hope the Belarusians will have one more date, Freedom Day, because we have to get rid of the power of the gang, which is running Belarus today. It will happen one day. I think this day will also be a holiday in the national calendar of the Belarusians.
- Are there any dates associated with the events after 2020 worth celebrating?
- First of all, I would like to draw all your readers' attention to the date that has been celebrated by the Belarusian community for two years - May 21. Everyone knows that a real hero of Belarus, Vitold Ashurak, was killed on this day in Shklou prison in 2021. In memory of him, rallies of solidarity with the Belarusian political prisoners are held on this day around the world. As you can imagine, this is not an artificial date. I think, it will also remain in the history of the Belarusian people, it will also be in the calendar.
