President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky reacted to the missile strike of the Russian Armed Forces and confirmed that there were dead and wounded as a result of the missile's arrival.

“This is what it is like to be next to a terrorist state, this is what we unite the whole world against. The Russian rocket hit right in the center of the city, in our Chernihiv. The square, the polytechnic, the theater. An ordinary Saturday that Russia turned into a day of pain and loss. There are dead, there are wounded. My condolences to those who lost their loved ones,” the President of Ukraine wrote.

According to Volodymyr Zelensky, rescuers, law enforcement officers and doctors are currently working at the scene of the tragedy.

The President of Ukraine added that Ukraine would do everything to consolidate the world against Russian terror and protect Ukrainians.

“Russia must lose this war in order for life to win,” the President of Ukraine said.

Moreover, the moment of the shelling of Chernihiv was caught on video. The footage shows how a ballistic missile hits a local theater, after which the video ends.

Head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Ihor Klimenko specified that at least 42 people were injured as a result of a missile strike by the Russian Armed Forces. 5 citizens received injuries incompatible with life.

“Saturday holiday morning. People left the church with baskets of consecrated apples... 37 people were wounded, including 11 children. Everyone is receiving medical assistance,” Klymenko added, commenting on the shelling of Chernihiv.

Serviceman Vladyslav Sinyahovsky clarifies that the Drama Theater was destroyed as a result of a missile attack.

“The Drama Theatre, on the Day of the Transfiguration of the Lord, in peaceful Chernihiv, when hundreds of people with children went for a walk on a public holiday. Nearby is the Piatnytska Church of the 11th century, in which there were also many people, gathered for a holy mass,” the soldier added.

Social media note that on August 19, an exhibition of drones was held in the center of Chernihiv, which was actively advertised over the past week. Local residents claim that many civilians, including children, came to the event.
