The representative of the dictator was scolded not only because of the incident with helicopters.
On August 1, the charge d'affaires of Belarus was summoned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Poland. There, a strong protest connected with the incident with Belarusian helicopters that violated the country's airspace was conveyed to him. Paweł Jabłoński, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Poland, told RMF FM about this.
The conversation with the Belarusian diplomat at the Foreign Ministry was “very short”.
“We expressed a strong protest in connection with the violation of airspace, as well as the escalation of actions against Ukraine, because Belarus is also involved in this war,” Jabłoński said.
He also stressed that other claims were submitted to the Belarusian side. In particular, Warsaw noted a decrease in the level of security at the border due to the movement of Wagner PMC mercenaries to our country, as well as due to the ongoing attempts of migrants to illegally cross the Belarusian-Polish border.
“We will defend ourselves against this,” Jabłoński said.
On August 1, Belarusian military helicopters were spotted in the sky over the Polish village of Białowieża in the Podlaskie Voivodeship near the Polish-Belarusian border. Local residents are sure that the helicopters flew right over the village, OSINT investigators say they flew three kilometers deep into Polish territory.
On the evening of August 1, the Polish Ministry of Defense confirmed the violation of the country's airspace by Belarusian military helicopters. It is noted that the border crossing took place in the Białowieża region at a very low altitude, which made it difficult to detect by radar systems.
The Pentagon said in connection with the incident that they continue to “take NATO security very seriously”.
