The diplomat left the country rapidly.
Consul General of Russia in Almaty, Kazakhstan, Yevgeny Bobrov, spoke in an interview with TASS about the decline in the use of the Russian language in Kazakhstan. The Kazakh Foreign Ministry denied the statements of the Consul General and reported that he had already left the country.
Bobrov's interview with TASS was published on August 23. He stated that "there is a certain decline in the level of use and study of the Russian language."
“There are objective reasons for this phenomenon - this is a reduction in the Russian population to 15.2%, and there is also a certain focus of the Ministry of Education on changing the state curriculum based on the Kazakh language,” the Consul General said.
"Russian-language schools and classes have been reduced in recent years, the exclusion of the Russian language studies from the first-grade educational program of the Kazakh language groups has caused some concern in society," he said
Already on August 28, the official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan, Aibek Smadiyarov, denied this information, writes Orda.
“Perhaps this person was not aware of all the information that we have observed in the country,” Smadiyarov said.
According to him, more than half of over 7,700 public schools teach only in the Kazakh language, 1,203 schools - in Russian, and more than 2,500 schools - in Kazakh and Russian.
He added that there are no plans for the complete transition of all schools in the country exclusively to the Kazakh language of instruction. Today, citizens have the right to choose what language their children will study in. As for Bobrov himself, he no longer works in Kazakhstan.
“This employee is no longer in Kazakhstan. He no longer works here. He completed his diplomatic mission," Smadiyarov added.
