Construction Of Military Training Base To Start On Khrenin Line Near Homiel

A similar base is planned for the Brest region.

According to the published public tender, "the construction of a training facility near the village of Kalinino in the Homiel district" is planned, Flagstaff notes.

The published documents do not specify the cost of the construction or the department to which the facility will be assigned. There is only an indication of the construction complexity class - K-5 (the simplest construction class) and the name of the design organisation - Homiel Giprozhivmash. The price control works for the construction of this object should be carried out from 5 October to 4 December 2023.

Open sources generally associate the term "Training and Material Base" with the facilities of the Armed Forces or the Ministry of Emergency Situations.

The journalists tried to find more information about the construction of the base. It turned out that the Homiel District Executive Committee was unaware of the impending construction. The map of the Land Cadastre of Belarus does not show any land for the construction of the base near the village of Kalinino.

Another tender suggested the nature of the construction. In August, the tender for the construction of a training and material base near the village of Saki, Zhabinka district, was completed in the neighbouring Brest region. There it is planned to allocate a considerable sum - 2,275,129 BYN (about $700,000) for the construction of the base.

As mentioned above, the second known section of the defensive lines, a chain of trenches and dugouts, was built in the village of Saki in June 2023.

One can assume that the armed forces will practice the defence and attack of an imaginary fortified area near the village of Kalinino near Homiel.

It is known that in 2023 lines of anti-tank fortifications appeared near the village of Kalinino. A two-kilometre section of defensive structures was built 20 kilometres from the border with Ukraine on the Chernihiv highway. The defensive line was built for a demonstration exercise with the participation of Defence Minister Khrenin.
