Ukrainian Intelligence Explains What Surovikin’s New Position Means

The disgraced general received a slap in the face.

Defense Intelligence of the Ukrainian MoD considers the appointment of the former commander of the Russian Aerospace Forces, General Sergei Surovikin, as head of the CIS Coordination Committee on Air Defense issues to be demonstratively “senseless.”

This opinion was shared in an interview with Radio NV by Andrii Yusov, a representative of the Defense Intelligence of the Ukrainian MoD.

Answering the question about whether Surovikin was really appointed head of the coordinating committee on air defense issues under the Council of CIS Defense Ministers and what his future fate will be, Yusov noted: “There is such information, it is being verified, but if we imagine that this is true, then it’s hard to imagine a more meaningless and empty position. We are not even talking about the CSTO; a position in this bloc today would also not affect anything. But some kind of committee in a non-functional and virtually non-existent CIS is quite a slap in the face, let’s say, both reputationally and politically.”

He also confirmed the data that after the mutiny of the Wagner PMC regarding Surovikin, there were “investigative actions, pressure, restrictions on the performance of duties, freedom of movement, and communication for Surovikin with his subordinates and family.” “This all took place,” Yusov noted.
