The names followed the Chechnya leader’s coma condition.
In recent weeks, there were rumours that Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov is seriously ill and may be in a coma.
Ingush journalist Magomed Toriev notes that there is no evidence of Kadyrov’s poor health either from Chechnya or from Europe, where a large number of the Chechen diaspora lives. At the same time, according to him, if Kadyrov “is really in a coma, he will remain there until the Kremlin decides who will take his place.”
He noted On FREEDOM that there are three people who may replace Kadyrov:
- Member of the Russian State Duma from the Chechen Republic Adam Delimkhanov;
- Head of the Chechen Parliament Magomed Daudov;
- Deputy Prime Minister of Chechnya for the security bloc and commander of the Akhmat SOBR detachment Abuzaid Vismuradov.
The journalist is convinced that no one in Chechnya will oppose the newly appointed leader.
“There is no political life, no political parties, no freedom of speech, no independent media. There is a dictatorship, a concentration camp. Whoever is appointed will rely on the support of Moscow. None of the Russian governors relies on the support of their region and regional elites. Moscow makes appointments. There is no point in counting on the Kremlin thinking about some kind of reaction from the people,” says Toriev.
Kadyrov’s coma - available information
Rumours about the worsening health of the Chechnya leader have been spreading since the beginning of 2023. In particular, the cry foul sounded after Ramzan Kadyrov missed President Vladimir Putin’s address to the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation on February 21.
Military expert Oleh Zhdanov suggested that Kadyrov could have been poisoned on Putin’s orders.
The day before, rumours appeared that Kadyrov was in a coma. Andrei Yusov, a GUR (Ukrainian Defence Intelligence), commented on this. “Indeed, there is information that Kadyrov has serious health problems and his illnesses worsened and became the cause of this condition,” he noted.
