Chechen Human Rights Activist Yangulbaev: Kadyrov Has Died

The prominent opposition activist confirmed the rumours.

Chechnya leader Ramzan Kadyrov allegedly died due to kidney problems.

Abubakar Yangulbaev confirmed the September 17 rumours on Telegram, a Chechen opposition activist and personal Kadyrov’s enemy.

Mr Yangulbaev’s publication, 1:30 pm, Sunday: “Kadyrov has died.”

It is significant that he published the message half an hour after a video allegedly refuting the rumours was posted on Kadyrov’s official channel. True, the released video with Kadyrov could have been recorded earlier: it’s impossible to associate it with the present day.

The rumours about Kadyrov’s serious illness first appeared in the spring of 2023, when, after a long absence, he appeared in public with dramatic changes in appearance.

At the same time, there were rumours that a representative of the Putin regime had kidney problems due to possible poisoning.

The other day, Russian opposition activist Gennady Gudkov reported, citing influential Chechen sources, that Kadyrov’s kidney transplant surgery failed with rejection.

On September 16, Ukrainian defence intelligence confirmed the rumours, reporting that Kadyrov's health had rapidly deteriorated and he was believed to be in a coma.

The Press Service of the Chechnya head published several posts over the past two days, thus trying to refute reports of the illness and death of the Chechnya leader. However, no evidence was provided that he was alive and well.
