Hrodna Gymnasium Headmaster Fired After Graduates Went To Study Abroad

He has headed the gymnasium since 2009.

The headmaster of gymnasium #1 in Hrodna was fired. The reason, writes hrodna.life, is that many graduates of the gymnasium decided to enroll in foreign universities.

In August, a commission visited Hrodna schools, which had information on how many graduates from which school applied for an apostille and, therefore, planned to leave the country for further education abroad. Almost half of this list turned out to be graduates of gymnasium #1 named after Academician Y. F. Karski. For this, headmaster of the gymnasium Barys Siabrouski suffered.

He has headed the gymnasium since 2009, and before that he was deputy headmaster for eight years. He was replaced as headmaster by Alena Adamovich. Before that, she was the head of the department of education, sports and tourism of the Kastrychnitski district of Hrodna.

According to hrodna.life, they decided to remove several more school headmasters from their positions. In addition, more than a dozen head teachers of educational work were dismissed from their positions, who in 2020 put their signatures for the “wrong” candidate, the publication writes, citing its own sources.

The Ministry of Education and the Department of Education Quality Control ordered the tracking of graduates who put an apostille on their school certificates. It is reported that in Minsk universities, some graduates who wanted to take their documents were not given certificates of centralized testing.
