Private Enterprise CEO Convicted For Participation In Hrodna Hitch In 2020

On July 28, the Kastrychnitski District Court of Hrodna sentenced Volha Klyuchnikava, deputy director of one of the city’s private enterprises, to liberty restriction, accusing her of “organizing and preparing actions that grossly violate public order, or actively participating in them” (Part 1 of Article 342 of the Criminal Code) Code), human rights activists report.

The case was heard by Judge Marharyta Lantsevich. According to the prosecution, 55-year-old Volha Klyuchnikava, on September 6, 2020, together with other protesters, moved along the roadway and pedestrian paths of the streets, “obstructed the movement of traffic and the passage of citizens, after which, lining up in a chain and holding hands with other people, they formed a “hitch”.

The material damage that was caused to the city's public transport in the amount of 71.69 rubles was paid voluntarily.

The court sentenced her to liberty restriction without sending her to a specialized institution for a period of two years.

On August 18, Volha Klyuchnikava was added to the list of persons involved in “extremist activities.”
