Tuaregs Started War With Wagnerites In Mali

Local tribes opposed the pro-Russian junta.

The Tuareg tribes united into the Azawad Coordination Movement and declared war on the pro-Russian military junta that seized power in Mali in 2020, as well as on the Wagner PMC mercenaries who were also there.

As defense-arabic reports, the Tuaregs, who in 2012-2014 tried to secede militarily from Mali, and over the past 9 years have periodically resorted to guerrilla warfare methods, became more active in August of this year, and on September 10 signed an agreement according to which they must jointly oppose the ruling junta, which has violated previously reached agreements and is trying to establish full control over the northern part of the country, which previously had broad autonomy.

Note: According to the peace agreement of 2015, which put an end to the fighting between the central government and the Tuaregs in 2012-2014, the latter received broad autonomy. Recently, social media started talking about the Azawad Coordination Movement which managed to inflict significant damage to the aviation of the regime of Asimi Goita (the head of the Malian junta): the destruction of three fighter planes, two helicopters, a drone, as well as an Il-76 military transport aircraft was., which belonged to the Wagnerites.

According to preliminary information, the Tuaregs have about 300 units of military equipment.
