AFU Strengthen: Real Chances To Advance To Northern Pryazovia Territory Appear

A military expert has assessed the advance of Ukrainian fighters in the South.

Analysts of the Institute for the Study of War note that the AFU are already behind the third line of enemy defence in the Zaporizhzhia direction. The AFU General Staff notes the successful performance of the Ukrainian defenders in the southern direction, but it is not definitely reported about overcoming the three enemy defence lines.

There are prerequisites for cutting the land corridor of the Russians to the Crimea, because the AFU have strengthened in comparison with last year. Military expert Petro Chernik has expressed this opinion to the Channel 24.

There is only one defensive line of the enemy in the South - the so-called "Surovikin line". However, it is too early to say that the movement for the AFU will be somewhat easier after passing it. There are also some fortified towns in the occupied territory - Tokmak, Melitopol, etc.

"However, we are breaking through the southern bridgehead now, and the next one will be the Perekop Isthmus," Chernik added.

He noted an important detail compared to last year. Currently, the Armed Forces of Ukraine are solidly packed with wheeled machinery.

It is very mobile, high-speed, has good armour, sufficient number of weapons. And as soon as a full-fledged breakthrough is made - the "Surovikin line" is fully passed - by strike columns, things can really go much faster in the future, the military analyst explained.

Besides, there are now means to cover the troops from the air. We are talking about the US Avenger bomber, which has 8 launch containers with Stinger missiles, it is already with a calculating device and has large calibre machine guns for its own defence.

"In the dry weather cycle, it looks like it will be around for a long time, we can get to the northern Pryazovia if we cut Crimea's land corridor with Russia. That would completely collapse the entire southern bridgehead, and it would indeed be a colossally huge step forward to success. However, we remember that there is an old line of demarcation, a separate analysis is needed here," Chernik summarised.
