They have no plans to close down.
Fighters from the Russian PMC Wagner continue to work "in the African and Belarusian direction", a telegram channel close to the mercenaries reported on 25 September. This information was later confirmed by the mercenaries' official channel.
PMC Wagner is continuing its work in the African and Belarusian directions. There is no talk of closing down the company," the reports said.
Three months ago there was a mutiny in PMC Wagner in Russia. During the mutiny, Yevgeny Prigozhin's mercenaries almost reached Moscow. These events led to the transfer of Wagner fighters to Belarus and the escalation of tensions on the border with NATO countries. Since August, however, the presence of mercenaries in Belarus has gradually decreased.
On 24 September, the spokesman for the State Border Service of Ukraine, Andriy Demchenko, citing intelligence data, said that about 1,000 fighters remained in Belarus (at the end of August he estimated the number of mercenaries on Belarusian territory at 5,000).
