The main reserves have been sent to the "open door".
Military expert Roman Svitan said that Ukraine's "rear" troops were waiting for the Russian defence lines to collapse under the onslaught of the AFU forces in the Zaporizhzhia direction.
On September 28, the Institute for the Study of War (ISW) reported that the AFU had managed to make a breakthrough on the Robotyne-Verbove line. According to Svitan, this gives the main reserves of Ukrainian troops the opportunity to open the "door" for further advancement on the front. This he stated on air of "Morning of February".
"Some units along the front line fulfil different roles and different tasks. There are units that stay in the rear, as strategic reserves, and they do not participate in the fighting at all. And there are units that fulfil a task for months, one, two, four. One single task, let's say, to open up the enemy's defence line, to reach the last line, to open a passing mechanism for the main reserves that were not involved in the fighting. They were waiting for the time when those units that break through the defence line would open the 'door' for us," Svitan said.
According to him, the Ukrainian troops involved at the front continue to extend their flanks, making gaps in the Russian defence to allow Ukrainian reserves to pass through. "And to continue to fulfil the tasks set by the General Staff, to fulfil the Chief commander's plan," Svitan specified.
According to him, now the relevant "door" on the first line of defence is open.
"Opening, breaking the main line of defence - this has already been accomplished..... The next stage is the arrival of troops, the entry of reserves into the resulting breakthrough and further movement of reserves, fresh units. That's why when Rogozin writes: "It's started." It can be rephrased as follows: it means that, most likely, the main reserves are being brought in, they are needed for passing and deploying forces and means behind the main line of defence," the military expert said.
The AFU Made a Breakthrough on the Robotyne-Verbove Line
On September 27, the Ukrainian army reached the line of trenches west of Verbove, a settlement that has been in the media spotlight in recent weeks. It was believed that Ukrainian forces were successful in breaking through Russian defences there. On September 28, ISW stated that the AFU had made a breakthrough along the Robotyne-Verbove front.
At the same time, the gauleiter of Zaporizhzhia region, Vladimir Rogov, reported that on September 26, 4 companies of the AFU knocked the Russians out of their trenches, breaking the occupiers' defence line. On the same day, the recently elected "senator" of the occupied territories of Zaporizhzhia Region, Rogozin, said that the Ukrainian army had "attacked the Russian positions in large numbers".
