Catholic Priest Henrykh Akalatovich Kept In 'Amerikanka' For Two Months Already
HENRYKH AKALATOVICH

Future Cardinal Kazimir Sviontek was imprisoned in it 83 years ago.

The rector of the Roman Catholic parish of St Joseph in Valozhyn has been kept in detention for two months already. Henrykh Akalatovich was detained on November 16, the Feast of the Mother of God of Mercy. Since then, there has been no official information about what the priest is accused of, writes katolik.life.

The competent authorities do not report anything about the case of the Valozhyn rector, neither the accusation, nor about the investigation, nor about the state of health of the priest to the people close to him - just silence. They are praying for him and ask for the prayers of all those who are not indifferent. The only thing that the competent source was able to report is that they handed him another set of medicines, and he is in the KGB detention centre in Minsk.

Priest Uladzislau Lazar spent more than half a year in the same detention centre, which has been called "Amerikanka" since the Soviet times, in 2012, but no evidence of his guilt was never voiced - the priest was accused of "treason against the state. It seems that the same accusation is made against Father Henrykh.

Also, 80 years ago, priest Kazimir Sviontek, who later became the first cardinal in the modern history of Belarus, was kept in "Amerikanka".

Thus, it became known where one can try to send a letter for priest Henrykh to support the priest, to tell him about how many people are praying for him.

According to his passport, the priest has the name of Hennadz, so the addressees should specify "to Hennadz Akalatovich".

Address: KGB Detention Centre, P.O. Box 8, Main Post Office, Minsk 220050.
